Franklin Jones, Jr. is a Deaf professional you don’t want to miss!

Franklin Jones, Jr. is a full-time ASL lecturer and a doctoral student in Language and Literacy Education at Boston University. He teaches the range of levels of ASL, as well as Deaf Studies.

His research interests include the educational experiences of Black Deaf men, the Black Deaf community, Black American Sign Language, and Home Sign Language. (Franklin’s dissertation explores why the graduation rate of Black Deaf men is still low.)

Franklin is an author of “Learn Black American Sign Language: A History and Complete Beginner’s Guide with over 200 Words and Phrases” and a presenter who shares his work at schools, universities, and community events. His presentations include Black American Sign Language, diversity in the curriculum and his Black Deaf identity.
